Regeneration Of Rhyl Seafront On Hold
Posted by Becca on Monday Nov 2, 2009 Under GeneralThe regeneration plans for Rhyl seafront is in doubt at the moment as their has not been a buyer for it at the cost of around £85 Million.
The land used to be home to the famous fun fair which is owned by Modus who are currently in administration; there have been people interested in the plans but to date there is no buyer.
The plans consist of apartment comples a supermarket and a hotel and to top that off shops offices cafes and also for the green people 10 wind turbines.
Gyn Pickering the mayor has said
Possible interests:the development was an integral part of the future for Rhyl We cannot stand still on this – we’re going to have to find some way of continuing the redevelopment of Rhyl

I have looked on with interest at the proposed plans for the re-generation of Rhyl because I visit regularly and loved it as a child. It seems that nothing is learned from past mistakes and money is continually wasted. Rhyl is fast becoming concrete town any future plans that I have seen on the web seem to depend on shipping yet more concrete into the town. I would say to current planners, take a look 18 miles down the coast to Llandudno. It has always thrived from day trippers, Mondays to Friday holidays or just long weekends. What is it – an oldfashioned seaside town with character. I know that rhyl doesn’t have the old fashioned georgian hotels but it does have a fabulous expanse of beach. New places can be built across the front (preferably with sloping roofs) that look classy.Only a quarter of the money outlaid need be spent by using local planners with common sense the rest can then be spent on housing and helping local people. Get rid of the druggies and DHSS.
